Description	This research file includes data accessed from Prosecution Project records as part of a study of the prosecution and sentencing of inter-gender murder (male on female, and female on male) in NSW 1901-1955. The original records have been supplemented with more attributes including context of event, as well as biographical data for both defendants and victims. The research was directed by Carolyn Strange. (2024-04-03)

Origin of Historical Sources	The data is a composite of trial court records documented in a register maintained by the Supreme Court of NSW and other data primarily sourced from newspaper reports
Characteristic of Sources	The court data for the most part documents the full name of defendant, charge, plea, verdict, sentence and other outcome including appeals, as well as name of judge presiding at trial; other data in the file includes textual description of the homicide event, including location and use of weapons, as well as information about victim and defendant including age, sex and relationships between them.
