The Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health (ALSWH) requires users of Study data to comply with the following Terms and Conditions of Use:

1. STORAGE:
• All copies of the ALSWH Datasets, whether full or partial, must be stored securely and protected by the use of firewalls, automatic screen locking and/or secure encrypted pathways.
• All copies of any ALSWH Dataset no longer needed must be destroyed.
• The authorised user is responsible for the ALSWH Datasets until all copies in their control have been destroyed AND ALSWH has been informed of their destruction.

2. ANALYSIS:
Data analysis must be conducted according to recognised standards. Authorised users should familiarise themselves with the datasets, the ‘Notes for Collaborators using ALSWH Data’, the Data Dictionary, and the Data Dictionary Supplement, all of which are available from: https://dataverse.ada.edu.au/dataverse/alswh_core_release.

3. USAGE:
• Commercial use of ALSWH data is not permitted.
• No attempt must be made to identify individuals in any Dataset.
• If spontaneous recognition occurs, the identity of any person within the Dataset must not be shared.
• Unit record data must not be shared with anyone who is not an authorised user of the same Dataset, with authorised users being only those researchers listed on the approved application.
• The ALSWH Dataset must not be matched, shared, linked, integrated or merged with other Datasets.

4. PUBLICATION:
• All details of published or finalised research must be provided to ALSWH by email (alswh@uq.edu.au).
• Any Unit Record Data or any research material that could lead to respondent identification must not be published.
• The appropriate Dataset acknowledgement must be included in all research materials.
• ALSWH will supply details (names and institutions only) of all approved data users to the Human Research Ethics Committee with oversight of the Study. These details will also be listed in the ALSWH Annual Report.

5. NOTIFICATION:
Notify ALSWH by email (alswh@uq.edu.au) in the following cases:
• Change of personal details, including institutional affiliation
• Change or addition to intended research
• Change in expected completion date of research
• Terminating access to the Dataset
• Loss of the data or other potential breaches
• You are required by law to surrender the data to a third party
• You have destroyed the data at the completion of your research.

6. CITATIONS:
Under the Terms and Conditions of Use, Authorised Users have agreed to acknowledge the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health and the Australian Government Department of Health in all Research material. If you have used ALSWH data in your research, you must include the relevant data release DOI (obtainable from Dataverse) and the following paragraph:

Data from the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health (ALSWH), conducted by the University of Queensland and the University of Newcastle, was used in this (paper, abstract, report, etc.). We are grateful to the Australian Government Department of Health for funding ALSWH and to the women who provided the survey data.
