The National Drug Strategy Household Survey series examines current awareness of attitudes and behaviours toward drugs and drug problems within the Australian community, focussing on respondents personal attitudes toward drugs, knowledge of drugs and drug histories. The available National Drug Strategy Household Surveys cover 2001 - 2016. The data collection for the most recent studies has been conducted by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW). Please note, pre-2001 survey are no longer available to request and access. AIHW has gradually phased out pre-2001 data from analyses, as the methodology and questions are incompatible with later waves.

To apply for access to any of the National Drug Strategy Household Survey (NDSHS) datasets, please complete and return the data access application materials to ada@ada.edu.au. Please note that all researchers who need to view unit record data must complete and sign the AIHW confidentiality undertaking.
